At Fulwood Academy we understand that the transition from primary to secondary education can be both an exciting and challenging time for pupils and parents.  

Our transition programme is designed to ensure that pupils are confident and happy about moving up to Fulwood Academy. We start to meet pupils in Year 5 and build up to a full school visit in the summer term of Year 6. This two-year process ensures that all our pupils are ready for a successful and enjoyable Year 7.  

If you have any questions regarding transition at any stage of the process, please do not hesitate to ask. Staff are always available to answer questions at the various transition events, or you can telephone or email the school at any time.  

Autumn Term: Year 6 pupils and parents are invited to an open evening to look around Fulwood Academy and meet members of staff in all the teaching departments. 

Spring Term: Year 6. Data will be collected from the primary feeder schools to help arrange admissions. 

Summer Term: Year 6. A member of the Pastoral Team and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator will visit primary schools to talk to pupils and staff.  

Summer Term: Year 6 pupils will visit Fulwood Academy with their classmates for a ‘Taster Day’ to allow them to familiarise themselves with the school. Pupils who require, can have additional visits. 

OPEN EVENING - 27th SEPTEMBER 2023

We are delighted to extend a warm invitation to all Year 5 and 6 pupils and your parents/guardians to our school's Open Evening. This event aims to showcase the wonderful opportunities and exciting subjects we have on offer at Fulwood Academy.

During the Open Evening, you will have the chance to explore our school, engage with our dedicated teachers, meet some of our wonderful pupils and discover the diverse range of subjects we provide. This is a fantastic opportunity for you and your family to gain insight into our school community and witness firsthand the enriching educational experience we offer.
